Zach Wetzel is from Los Angeles. He graduated from Brigham Young University with a BM in Vocal Performance. While at BYU Zach received the Roy Samuelson and Marriott Top Male Singer Awards. He performed at the esteemed Covey Center for the Arts, Pardoe Theatre and the DeJong Concert Hall. Zach returned to BYU as a guest artist in 2014 to perform at the Madsen Recital Hall. He obtained a JD in Media Law from the University of South Dakota School of Law, where he served as President of the Media Board. In 2017 Zach moved with his wife Sarah, a talented artist in her own right, to her hometown of Tucson. He worked for 6 years as the Music Program Director for two campuses of BASIS Charter Schools, before leaving full-time music education to teach English at Academies of Math and Science.
Zach's work as an educator and performer has been highlighted by ABC KGUN9, BroadwayWorld, and Shoutout Arizona. He is a regular summer staff member at The Phoenix Theatre Company, serving as music director for their youth productions. Zach is a prolific performer with a footprint across the state of Arizona. He played the role of Willy Conklin in Ragtime: The Musical at Herberger Center Stage alongside Broadway performers. Zach has worked with Saguaro City Music Theatre, Live Theatre Workshop, Winding Road Theatre, Unity of Mesa and Tucson, the Musical Theatre Alliance of Arizona, Arts Express Theatre, the Southern Arizona Symphony Orchestra, The Phoenix Third Street Theatre, and The Gaslight Music Hall. He also serves as a regional critic for BroadwayWorld, the Artistic Director of the touring group Beyond Broadway, and manager of a private voice studio at Instrumental Music Center. Zach resides in Tucson with his loving wife Sarah and their two children.
